Fedora Core - New kernel
Four months have now passed and finally see a kernel that my box can not hang on boot! But of course there adware problems, namely, that VMWare will not run after the update. Nothing could be easier, since you can only be let to run the config script ... No way!
vmware-config.pl unfortunately increases under the new kernel 2.6.18 with the message saying that the kernel sources and the current kernel version are compatible.
cause is that the config script file / usr / src / linux / include / linux / version.h evaluates and expected there is a C macro called UTS_RELEASE. Depp has any of this but for version.h in the file utsrelease.h shifted. All of these masses knitted version checks to fall so on the nose. Are really nothing more important to change the Linux kernel?
Well, the fix is in any case trivial: in the config script simply by editor version.h change utsrelease.h and then it works again.
